Hello all! I have been taking my Instructional Technologies class since the beginning of January. There has been so much new and valuable information learned throughout this whole process. I can't even express how grateful I am that I got to take this class. At the beginning, I was somewhat worried when I saw the content because at that time, I didn't see how it could all relate to learning. I have learned so much about the importance of networking. There is a new software that we are incorporating into our learning this week called LinkedIn. LinkedIn is yet another great way to network. You can make connections and have professional conversations. You start by filling out your profile so others can see what your interest and career is. There is even a section where you can enter your contacts into an address book so you can see if anyone you know has a LinkedIn account. I think that is a great way to start. There are so many different ways to use LinkedIn. If you are a student and will be looking for a job, then it will be a great way to network for finding the perfect job for you. It is also a great way to showcase, in a professional way, who you are. This way, when professionals look at your LinkedIn profile, they can make certain judgments, so it is best to keep it professional. On a professional level, you can network with other professionals. There are new sections where you can discover new groups and make new connections. This is a great way to share information and new ideas. I really hope you check this out if you have not already. I have put the link for their website to make it easier for you.   https://www.linkedin.com/

  1. Hi Lori,

I am the same as you. The first week of class had to have been the most intimidating experience I have had so far in college. However, I also love this class. I love the content, I love the varies technologies we have learned about and I love the organization.

I have a linkedin account, but I rarely use. My goal for the summer is to really go through and make it me. The professional me that it. I didn't realize jobs look for employees are there. Thank you for your post

  3. Hello Lori and happy Sunday!

I have been using LinkedIn for a couple of years, but I've only really been active on it for the last year or so. I think it becomes more important as we progress with technology. There is good reason to believe that eventually professional social media could replace traditional resumes and hiring procedures. I like the aspect of updating it every time we add a new skill we have learned. The program I work for at LCSC has been promoting LinkedIn for our students. It's an excellent way to keep track of our skills, knowledge and abilities for the future.

    Take care!

    1. Hi Derek, thank you for that feedback. I did not think about putting a new skill in every time I learned one. That is a great idea.
