Networking is a very important tool for educators. With budget cuts, we need to find more creative ways to expand our visions. I am excited to use this, blogging, as a tool for networking. I have never done this before and am excited to learn.I plan to read as many blogs as I can, and reach out to others. This way, in my future career, I will have a network already set up. I also plan to incorporate this into my everyday life. I enjoy finding out what others views and perspectives are, as this seems to broaden my own. I have been asking questions around the school that I work in and I was surprised how many people actually used blogging as a resource. I will be adding my coworkers blogs to my PLN as I get them.

  1. Hi Lori,

I also can't wait to get started with this experience. I have been shut off from attempting to use technology for so long now, that I'm fearful if I don't do something about it, I may fall behind. My bottom line is, like yours, become aware of other peoples experiences. I want this to become a resource for my success. And after having done some research on PLN's I also want to use this experience deepen my connections with individuals that are highly knowledgeable in their field of intersts.
I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better.

    1. Thank you Nicole. I think it is great that we are getting this opportunity now to start our PLN's with each other.

  2. It is a great idea to link to other teachers' blogs not only as a way to feel the general pulse of the organization but also to collaborate and learn of methods that others are using. It is said that to minds are better than one and when it comes to collaboration it is amazing what a group of like minded people can accomplish. Will you share any information with students or will your PLN be strictly for pedagogy?

    1. Hi Shawn, I am sure I will use this information both ways. Some information will be useful to share with students, and some will be useful in teaching and sharing with my colleagues. Thank you.

  3. I don't have any experience as a teacher, but I do come across articles and videos of how teachers are changing the classroom with micro-blogging services like Twitter. I found this really interesting video on how a Principle is using Twitter with the students at his school.

I also think that it could be really important that teachers show their students how to use online sites responsibly. We are seeing more and more instances of how online interaction can positively and negatively affect a person for the rest of their lives.

    1. Hello Corey, thank you for the video link. I agree about the importance of teaching children to use online sites more responsibly. It both amazes and dismays me what is so readily available at our fingertips.
